Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026 Online Application process has been initiated on May 11, 2026 on the official website. Eligible candidates interested in getting teaching jobs in Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya and CBSE affiliated government schools for Classes 1 to 8 have opened the online application.
The CTET exam consists of 2 papers. Paper 1 is for candidates who wish to teach the classes from 1 to 5 and paper 2 is for candidates who wish to teach classes 6 to 8. Candidates may write both papers also. The Exam will be given offline on the OMR Sheet. There will be 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in each paper, with no negative marking.
CTET qualification is considered essential for candidates seeking teaching opportunities in central government schools and many state government institutions. Qualifying the examination improves employment opportunities in the education sector and also helps candidates become eligible for recruitment processes conducted by various schools across the country.
Eligibility for the candidates applying for Paper 1 is that they should have passed Senior Secondary with 50 percent scores and Diploma in Elementary Education. Candidates for Paper 2 must have a and a graduation degree.Teaching qualification B.Ed or equivalent. No age limit for CTET Applicants.
For each paper, the application fee is Rs 1000 for all other candidates (General/OBC/SC/ST) while for PwD candidates it is Rs 500, the fee is Rs 1200 for General/OBC candidates as well as Rs 600 for reserved category candidates for both the papers.
