The last date to submit the online application form for UGC NET June 2026 has been extended by the National Testing Agency (NTA). This is good news to the people who had been preparing for the national level eligibility test for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The additional time has been provided to candidates who were not able to register earlier due to some reasons through the official website of the NTA.
The application process for UGC NET June 2026 has been extended till May 23, 2026 & the payment of the fees will be continued till May 23, 2026 as per the latest notification issued by the NTA. The registration process had been planned to be over on May 23 earlier. The agency said it extended the waiting period for multiple requests from the students and schools all over the country.
For a limited period, the editing window of the application details will also be opened after registration ends. In this stage, candidates can edit some of the fields in their application forms such as personal details, examination city preference, documents uploaded, etc. NTA has cautioned all aspirants to read all the details carefully before submission of applications as discrepancies may arise in the coming part of the examination process.
This year the UGC NET June 2026 exam will be held in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode through various cities of India. The exam is used to select candidates for Assistant Professorships and to provide Junior Research Fellowship at Indian universities and colleges. The exam is expected to see more than 10 lakh candidates appear for the exams this year from various academic bodies.
Registration can be done on the official websites of NTA and UGC NET. They will need to submit personal and academic information, scanned photographs and signatures, and the required examination fee online. Students have been encouraged not to wait for the deadline as a lot of traffic could slow down the site.
